More than 65 million people in the United States provide care for a family member during any given year. It’s estimated that family caregivers spend about 20 hours per week providing care for their loved ones.
Being a caregiver can be frustrating. Finding balance in providing for others while also taking care of yourself can be especially difficult.
Angela Hernandez, social media team leader at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan sat down with local caregivers and aging experts to discuss the challenges associated with caring for family members and the resources available to caregivers.
She was joined by Ann Thomas Battersby, executive producer at WJR Radio, Laura Zeitlin, clinical social worker for Michigan Medicine and professional advisory board member with the Michigan Parkinson Foundation and Kathleen Yanik, communications manager for the Area Agency on Aging 1-B.
